CONY Magazine Contributor Wins Award from AGLOW



Bill Hilts, Jr. of Lockport, NY was recognized for his outstanding work as an outdoor media producer at the 65th annual meeting of the Association of Great Lakes Outdoor Writers (AGLOW) held in Gaylord, Michigan September 14-17, 2021.
 
Hilts was awarded 1st place in the Best of Newspaper - Fishing category for his piece titled “Newfane Angler tries to preserve WNY Fishing History one lure at a time” that appeared in the Buffalo News on Nov. 8, 2020. Hilts also was awarded a 2nd place in the Best of Magazine – Boat, Travel and Camping category for his piece “Visiting my Quiet Place” that appeared in the 2021 CONY NY Annual Magazine. Hilts’ award was sponsored by Ducks Unlimited and Crosman and was presented at the AGLOW Awards in Craft Ceremony during the Toyota Scholarship Dinner held on September 14th, 2021, in Gaylord.
 
Founded in 1956, AGLOW is one of the nations oldest and most respected professional outdoor communicators organizations in the country.  The association boasts over 400 members, comprised of writers, editors, publishers, TV and Radio broadcasters, authors, lecturers, photographers, artists, electronic media specialists, bloggers, podcasters, outdoor industry representatives, tourism professionals and conservation groups.   The association stretches far beyond the Great Lakes region with membership from 36 states and 2 Canadian provinces.
